A living guide to resources for federal workers let go in 2025.
Thousands of federal employees have lost their jobs due to President Trump and his unelected crony Elon Musk's efforts to gut the federal workforce. In response, many local businesses and individuals are offering support and relief to their affected neighbors.
We've rounded up some deals and created a live spreadsheet (at the bottom of this page) for readers to submit more resources. Plus, we wanted to join in all the generous offers with a free year of membership to The 51st for impacted workers.
If you're looking for pre-existing mutual networks and nonprofits, check out our guide to giving and receiving help in D.C. The D.C. government's official resource page can be found here. And shoutout to Washingtonian who first ran a roundup for local federal workers last week.
On top of the information we've vetted and curated above, below is everything else collected and submitted by community members. This list is updated live and consequently is not immediately reviewed by our staff.
However, we believe it's important to have a central place to find and share this information quickly. Please flag us if you notice an inaccuracy or need a submission updated by emailing hello@51st.news.
This post has been updated to include the launch of fedsupport.dc.gov.
With your help, we pursue stories that hold leaders to account, demystify opaque city and civic processes, and celebrate the idiosyncrasies that make us proud to call D.C. home. Put simply, our mission is to make it easier — and more fun — to live in the District. Our members help keep local news free and independent for all:
